LightSheer Laser Hair Removal

Lasers are combating excess, unwanted hair and effectively removing it much faster, more reliably and more comfortably than other standard methods like electrolysis, shaving and tweezing.  They have proven to be a giant step forward in hair removal technology.

Laser hair removal is a quick, safe and effective alternative to daily shaving. Shaving, plucking, waxing and depilatory creams provide temporary fixes that are inconvenient, irritating, messy and temporary.
Excess and unwanted hair is common problem that effects about 22 million women. Women typically want to remove hair from the face, under the arms, and in the bikini area. Men often wish to remove hair from the back or chest or even between the eyebrows or face.

What happens during a LightSheer treatment

Treatment begins by trimming away any hair above the surface of the skin. Next, test spots are done to determine the skin's response to different device settings. After these test spots a cold gel (similar to ultrasound gel) is spread over the treatment area. You will wear special eyewear to protect your eyes. The handpiece is moved over the treatment area while light-based energy is emitted in flashes or pulses. When the gel is removed, much of the hair is wiped off with it. Additional hair may fall out over the next week or two.

How many treatments

The laser works by disabling hair follicles that are actively producing hair at the time of treatment. Because other hairs enter the growth phase at different times, additional treatments are necessary to disable all hair follicles in any given area. This usually requires 3-6 treatments over the course of the year for the body and 3-8 treatments for the face. After 3 treatments most people experience an average of 50-85% permanent reduction of hair.

How long does the treatment take

Each laser pulse treats area about 3/8 of inch in size. The lip can usually be treated in less than 10 minutes. Bikini/underarms together rakes about 45 minutes. Legs are 1 ½ to 2 hours. The full back/shoulders/neck is about 2 hours.

How long between treatments

Subsequent sessions are scheduled when the hair begins to regrow. The timing for this can range from four to eight weeks.

How much does it cost?

Laser hair removal is surprisingly affordable. Charges range from $100 to $500 depending on the region of the body for the first treatment. There is a discount for the course of 3 treatments.

Will my insurance pay for Laser Hair Removal?

Unfortunately no. Most private insurance companies will not cover the cost of “cosmetic” procedures such as lasers, Botox, or microdermabrasion.
