We do not have to take pills for the rest of our lives. Yes -it is possible to lose weight and keep the weight off; lower your risk of heart disease, diabetes, and cancer; and enjoy life.

VAT and SAT. These are two very important terms you need to learn. VAT is visceral fat, that's the fat in your belly surrounding your organs. SAT is subcutaneous fat and, while it may look bad, is not necessary a health hazard.

Now that you know how important your fat is, how much do you have? This section will tell all you want to know, and more, about how your fat can be measured. I also have an Excel spread sheet with a lot of formulas on it to do your calculations.

     

The Diet -Your lifestyle. This chapter introduces the diet including food servings. Portion equivalents and determining your calorie level.

FIBER is, well, the fiber of life. Fiber will help diabetes, heart disease, and constipation. How much fiber do I want you to get? 40-50 grams per day. How much are you probably getting? About 12 grams. How do you get more? By reading this chapter.

FATS are extremely important to manage in your new lifestyle. Yep, you are going to have to learn to enjoy fish. Nope, a Big Mac with a side of fries is not on the menu.

     

CARBOHYDRATES. The path to diabetes, heart disease and insanity. Well, maybe not insanity, but it could???
